Museum Display Cases
 
A large number of cases suitable for use as starter material or extension materials for a range of topics are available on a two week loan basis to schools in Otago and Southland. Many utilise actual artefacts or their replicas from Otago Museum collections. Themes covered by these boxes include:

  • Arms and Armour (including NZ and Japan) - display cases
  • Dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals (including pteranadon, brontosaurus, woolly mammoth) - posters and display cases
  • Birds, native, (including tui, kingfisher, kiwi, kaka) introduced and endangered - posters and display cases of real birds
  • Clyde power scheme - display cases
  • Flight, planes, helicopters, aviators (including Richard Pearse, Jean Batten) and rockets - posters and display cases
  • Geology, many rocks and minerals, and volcanoes - display cases and samples
  • Insects (including slater, stick insect, carabid beetle) - models, display cases, giant posters and games
  • Maori (including uses of bone, greenstone and moko) - display cases
  • Reptiles (including cobra and crocodiles) - display cases
