Visitors to the Search Centre will discover a wide range of resources, which can be used to find out more about the world of Nature, Culture and Science. Resources include cd-roms, books, magazines, botanical, geological and zoological specimens, DVDs, fascinating display cases, and access to the internet.

Cd-rom resources include the high quality and easy to use DK multimedia range, such as the Encyclopaedias of Science, Nature, Space and the Universe, Virtual Reality Earth Quest and Dinosaur Hunter, the Human Body and 3D Human Skeleton as well as general reference works on world facts and information.

The Search Centre DVD and video library is made up of quality titles, which focus on a number of different cultural and natural science topics. From March of the Penguins to Seven Wonders of the Industrial World, there is something for everyone to enjoy on our big-screen TV! 

Our specimen collections, which include Otago spiders, insects, shells, rocks, and plants, are a fascinating and useful reference tool for people of all ages to learn more about the world around us.

The Search Centre reference library complements the Otago Museum collections, and provides an excellent base from which to explore further the intriguing gallery exhibits. 

A collection of magazines, from New Zealand Geographic, New Zealand Heritage and National Geographic, to educational magazines such as Scientriffic, Helix and Dig, ensures that all interests are covered.
